Winter Fishing

Bill and I went to Mammoth December 18th and 19th. We arrived at 3 AM and I decided to take a semi-plowed road to a camp site i knew of. We got stuck about a mile down. It was 10 degrees out. We spent the next 3 hours with the help of the AAA guy getting the truck out. (soft snow) we got out at about 6. at this time both of us being up for over 24 hours pulled into a turn out, kicked the seats back and slept for about an hour and a half.

We had high hopes for Hot Creek set by the dude in the fly shop. Nothing. Bill had a fish on and gone and I got not even a bite.

That night we drove down into Bishop and camped in the valley at a campground i know of. much warmer. We Fished the Lower Owens and had a nother uneventful day. I caught one 10" brown right at the end of the day. still worth the trip regardless and cant wait to get back.
